Frances Ellis Elmore

Frances Ellis Elmore, 87, of Tariff, died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at home.
She was born at Tariff, a daughter of the late Henry J. and Lucy Snodgrass Ellis. She was a homemaker and 69-year member of Henry’s Fork Baptist Church. She was also a Sunday school teacher.
She is survived by one daughter, Joyce Bailey of Tariff; one son, Billy of Parkersburg; and five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Elmore.
Service was Sunday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Keen officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery.

Irene D. Morgan

Irene D. Morgan, 89, of Summersville died Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Summersville Memorial Hospital Extended Care Facility.
She was born at Leander, a daughter of the late Frank and Ollie White Hawkins. She was a Jehovah’s Witness, a Stanley Home Products Dealer and a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Richard Wayne Prater of Palestine and Robert Allen Prater of Summersville; three stepchildren, Ben Morgan of Elkview and Lela Griffin and Jean Shipley, both of Baltimore; two sisters, Lurene Stevens of Kissimmee, Fla., and Arlene Rasco of Temple, Texas; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Morgan Prater and Jess Morgan; and one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, April 26 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Summersville, with Ross Gates officiating. The body was cremated. White Funeral Home, Summersville, is in charge of arrangements.

Betty R. Shearon

Betty Gay Rader Shearon, 68, of Memphis, Tenn., died Thursday, March 13, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James R. Shearon; three children, Pamela Taylor, Jo Ann Landers and Russell, all of Memphis; three brothers, Roy Willis Armstead of Ohio, Howard Ray “Proxy” Armstead of Evans and Waitman “Coggie” Armstead of Alabama; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Service was Saturday, March 15 at Memphis Funeral Home Germantown Parkway Chapel. Burial was in Memory Hill Gardens of Bartlett.

Lundy Woosley

Lundy Woosley 84 of Spencer, died Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Rocksprings Rehabilitation Center, Pomeroy, Ohio.
Born at Grundy, Va., he was a son of the late Will Woosley and Rosa Lester Rife. He was a member of the UMWA. He retired from Top Job Mining. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Blackburn Woosley of Spencer; seven daughters, Rosemary Knapp of St. Cloud, Fla., Shirley Mills of Carroll, Ohio, Geraldine Thompson of Patasklal, Ohio, Betty Wishon of Carroll, Dorothy Wilson of Orient, Ohio, Sharon Green of Columbus, Ohio, and Martha Adkins of Lorado; five sons, Billy of Columbus, Rondall of Zanesville, Ohio, Lundy Jr. of Rushville, Ohio, James Canterbury of Morganton, N.C., and Daniel Canterbury of Irwin, Pa.; three brothers, Hassel of Richmond, Va., Oliver Lester of Fort Payne, Ala., and Dewey of New Jersey; and 33 grandchildren, 46 great-grand-children and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Troy and Gus; four sisters, Delphia Groves, Dorothy Harmond, Viola Woosley and Lucy Viars; and two grandsons.
Service was Sunday at Mounts Funeral Home Chapel, Gilbert, with Rev. Danny Mitchell officiating. Graveside service was Monday at Lester Family Cemetery, Grundy.
