Stella J. Anderson

Stella J. Anderson, 79, of Spencer, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston after an extended illness.
She was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Elbert Madison and Cleora Starcher Tanner. She was a homemaker. She was a former employee of the Hughes Drug Store fountain, and a former member of the Linden Homemakers Club. She was also a member of Spencer Advent Christian Church, American Legion Post 21 Auxiliary and the Roane County Historical Society.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rev. Willis E. Anderson of Spencer; children, David H. Anderson of Walton, Marlena Anderson Daily of Savannah, Ga., Jerry Willis Anderson of Peniel and Lena Mae Burgess and Barbara S. DeWeese, both of Spencer; a sister, Helen Howard of Reedy; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frances Waybright; and brothers, Hershel and Arlie Tanner.
Service was Sunday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, with Rev. Garry L. Bowen officiating. Burial was in Spencer Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed online at taylorfuneralhomeinc.com.

Robert F. Johnson Sr.

Robert F. Johnson Sr., 77, of Mammoth, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Montgomery General Hospital, after a short illness.
He was born at Putney, the son of William Stanley and Dimia Peck Johnson. He was a retired construction worker for Upton Construction Co. and was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley McCabe Johnson; sons, Robbie Johnson Jr. of Belle, Richard Crabtree of Hillsboro and Randy Crabtree of West Union; daughters, Teresa Harper of Spencer, Virginia Mullins of Riverside, Betty Millsap of Missouri, Judy Wines of Alabama, Mary Runyon of Point Pleasant and Cindy Lopez of Florida; brothers, Charles Johnson of Indiana, Larry Johnson of Ohio and Hugh Johnson of California; a sister, Louise Garten of Belle; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Theodore and Doug; sisters, Alomia and Katherine; and a grandson.
Service was Friday at Fidler & Frame Funeral Home, Belle, with Rev. Mary Hudnall officiating. Entombment was in Kanawha Valley Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Glasgow.

Anthony Ray ‘Tony’ Parfitt

Anthony Ray “Tony” Parfitt, 42, of Gastonia, N.C., formerly of Spencer, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at his home after a short illness.
He was born in Ravenna, Ohio, a son of the late Thomas Webster and Mary Lee Casto Parfitt.
He is survived by daughters, Miarha Berry of Parkersburg and Tina Clark of Bakersville, N.C.; a brother, Thomas Parfitt of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; a sister, Patricia Smith of Leroy; stepbrothers, Russell Parfitt of Chester, S.C., Randall Isaac of Walton and Richard Isaac of Spencer; and a step-sister, Linda Sears of Dayton, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a twin sister, Angella Parfitt Wallace.
The body was cremated. A private service will take place later.
