Eunice Ann Hess

Eunice Ann Hess, 89, of Spencer, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Miletree Center after an extended illness.
She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Lewis J. and Eunice Ann Coon Carpenter. She was a homemaker and a former employee of Kellwood Company and Spencer State Hospital. She was a babysitter for several area families for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Sue Jarvis of Spencer; a granddaughter, two great-granddaughters and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughters, Nina JoAnn and Wilda; and several brothers and sisters.
A private service will take place later. The body was cremated. There was no visitation. Memorial donations may be made to the family of Eunice Ann Hess, c/o John H. Taylor Funeral Home, P.O. Box 41, Spencer WV 25276.

Macie Mace

Macie Mace, 76, of Crystal Lake, Ill., died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at her home.
She was born at Advent, a daughter of the late Sherman and Dortha Brown Randolph. In 1953, she married Keith Mace at her parents’ home in Gandeeville. She worked at Lutheran Home for the Aged in Arlington Heights, Ill., for 37 years until her retirement in 2008. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Crystal Lake for 26 years and was a past committee member of Grafton Township. She was a Chicago Bears fan. Her interests included crafts, hiking, traveling, spending time at a cabin in Hayward, Wis., practical jokes and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by sons, Douglas Mace, Larry Mace and Andrew Mace; daughters, Deborah Canalini, Tammie Oomens, Cynthia Strudeman and Macie Jean Nulle; her siblings, Charles Randolph, Guy Randolph of Spencer, Bessie Wilson of Spencer, Paul Randolph of Spencer, Donald Randolph of Gandeeville, Kenneth Randolph, Robert Randolph, Barbara Baumgartner and Martha Jane Alfoldi.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; her stepdaughter, Carole Mace Maupin; and two granddaughters.
Service was Friday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Crystal Lake. Burial was in Windridge Memorial Park, Cary, Ill. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, 485 W. Gale Tanner

Gale Tanner, 79, of Arnoldsburg, died Monday, May 3, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a short illness.
He was born at Rocksdale, a son of the late James Albert and Mary Jane Roach Tanner. He was retired from Quaker State Oil Company, formerly was an oil field worker, worked at Monarch Rubber and worked for 16 years at PPE in Barberton, Ohio. His interests included hunting and gardening. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a member of the American Legion and was commander of VFW Post 5959 in Grantsville for eight years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Frances L. Ash Tanner; daughters, Kathy Tanner of Sand Ridge, Veronica May of Arnoldsburg, Joyce Crouser of Selma, N.C., and Kimberly Tanner of Oklahoma; sons, Howard Tanner of Akron, Ohio, James and Kevin D. Tanner, both of Ravenswood, Michael Tanner of Princeton, N.C., Kevin G. Tanner of Arnoldsburg and Keith Tanner of Smithfield, N.C.; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Denver D. Tanner; sisters, Dessell Wright, Eula Carpenter and Susanna Stevens; and a granddaughter.
Service was Saturday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, with Rev. Rick Matheney officiating. Burial, with military graveside rights, was in Tanner Family Cemetery near Arnoldsburg.

Grace F. Whited

Grace F. Tuttle Whited, 91, of Akron, Ohio, died Thursday, April 29, 2010.
She was born at Gay. She lived in the Akron area for 60 years. She was a long-time member of Akron Baptist Temple.
She is survived by her daughters, Wilma Rhodes and Rita Bailey; sons, Clifford and Dorsey; her caregivers, Gypsy Perrone and family; 12 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clate; a daughter, Mary Pearl; a grandson and a great-great-grandson.
Service was at Hecker Funeral Home, Uniontown, Ohio, with Rev. Don Viebranz officiating. Burial was in Mt. Herman Cemetery, Roane County.

Pearl Marie Wildman

Pearl Marie Wildman, 64, of Jacksonville, Fla., formerly of Nicut, died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 as a result of an ATV accident at Nicut.
She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Earl and Hallie Mae Sampson Siers.
She is survived by a son, Robert Dittman of Jacksonville; daughters, Regina Zoller and Michelle Bush, both of Parkersburg, and Christy McCutcheon of Jacksonville; a brother, Pete Siers of Rosedale; and seven grandchildren.
Service was Monday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Cottrell Cemetery, Frozen Run.
