Sherry Ann Bell
Sherry Ann Bell, 50, of Ravenswood, formerly of Spencer, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2007 at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Point Pleasant.
She was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Albert and Laura Simons Bell.
She is survived by two brothers, Joe Simons of Winfield and Steve Bell of Spencer.
Graveside service was Wednesday at Clover Cemetery with Rev. Leon B. Strickland officiating. John H. Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Ray Board
Ray Board, 39, of Leroy, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007 from injuries sustained in an auto collision in Jackson County.
He was born in Jackson County, a son of Jeannie Board and Charlie Nutter of Clover and Basil Eugene and Debbie Board of Ripley. He was an oil field worker and worked for Carter Lumber Company.
In addition to his parents and step-parents, he is survived by his wife, Tiffany Greathouse Board of Spencer; two daughters, Madgelyn Autumn Rose of Spencer and Miranda Renée of Chillicothe, Ohio; one son, Jakiah Greathouse of Spencer; one brother, Richard “Skip” of Leroy; two step-sisters, Lisa Simmons of Spencer and Kara Board of Ripley; and three step-brothers, Shane, Scott and Kevin Nutter, all of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Service was Sunday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial was in Young Cemetery, Linden.
Betty M. Dilworth
Betty M. Dilworth, 86, of Lewisport, Ky., died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007 at Harborside Healthcare, Owensboro, Ky.
She was born in Middleport, Ohio, a daughter of the late Oscar and Cynthia Marcum. She was a plant nurse for Kellwood Company, a member of Hilldale United Methodist Church in Hancock County, Ky., and an Eastern Star member.
She is survived by one daughter, Judy Jarvis of Lewisport; and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Foster C. Dilworth; and two sisters, Mary Brinkley and Martha Grimes.
Graveside service was Saturday at Clover Cemetery. Taylor-Wood Funeral Home, Lewisport, was in charge of arrangements.
Albert R. Hughes
Albert R. Hughes, 78, of Spencer, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007 at his sister’s home, Pigeon.
He was born in Roane County, a son of the late William and Mary Runnion Hughes. He was a former employee of the Super K Market and Spencer Cab Company. He was a Christian and attended Spencer Church of the Nazarene. He was also an army veteran.
He is survived by two sisters, Alice Jett of Pigeon and Carolyn Jones of Indiana; and two brothers, Raymond Hughes of Pigeon and Steve Hughes of Barnesville, Ohio.
Service was Tuesday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Roberts officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery.
Larry ‘Bud’ Lane
Larry Edward “Bud” Lane, 66, of Nicut, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at home.
He was born in Calhoun County, a son of the late Ralph and Arlie Harold Lane. He was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, Nicut.
He is survived by four sisters, Jean Sears of Nicut, Brenda Davisson of Florida, Ruth Morgan of Wisconsin and Nancy Stemple of Arnoldsburg; and seven brothers, Denzil of Pennsylvania, William Paul and Everett of Nicut, Howard of Orma, Ronnie of Ravenswood and Michael and Charles of Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Earl.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial will be in Beech Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Nicut. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
