Nellie Roach Brannon

Nellie Roach Brannon, 71, of Spencer, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston.
She was born in New Haven, a daughter of the late Dale and Leona Walkup Roach. She was a graduate of Wahama High School and worked for Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood. She and her husband formerly owned and operated Brannon’s Store in Spencer.
She is survived by her husband, Randall Brannon; one son, Eric Brannon of Spencer; three brothers, Bob, Jack and David Roach; six sisters, Norma Hall, Carol McGee, Marge Reuter, Sharon Fields, Betty Argobrite and Kathleen Kearns; one grandson; and one granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Mabel Roach.
Service was Saturday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Mike King officiating. Burial was in Minnora Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 2601 Willard Road – Suite 103, Richmond VA 23294 or First Baptist Church, 338 Main St., Spencer WV 25276.

Pauline E. Deibel

Pauline E. Deibel, 90, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at Oak Point Nursing Home, Baltic, Ohio.
She was born at Newton, a daughter of the late Bert and Nettie Noe Jarvis. She worked at Sparta, Columbia. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the Eastern Star of Strasburg, Ohio.
She is survived by one daughter, Eleanora Lebold of New Philadelphia, Ohio; one son, Phares Hensley of Dennison, Ohio; three sisters, Hazel Miller of Berlin, Ohio, Garnet Hensley of Nitro and Nancy Bell of Carbondale, Ill.; one brother, Billy Jarvis of Newton; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Deibel; two sisters, Dixie Finley and Lucy Chase; and two brothers, Lewis and Herb Jarvis.
Graveside service was Nov. 12 at Grandview Union Cemetery, Strasburg, with Pastor Steven Woyen officiating. Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Strasburg was in charge of arrangements.

Zella E. Ferrell

Zella E. Ferrell, 91, of Big Bend died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.
She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Alex and Dolly Dawson Snider. She was a former foster grandmother at Brooksville Elementary School and a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Snider of Mineral Wells and Gary Ferrell of Sanford, N.C.; two daughters, Jeanette Kyer and Geneva Hayes, both of Parkersburg; one sister, Ruth Docse of Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoy Ferrell; two brothers; two sisters; and one grandson.
Service was Monday at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Goodnight Cemetery at Big Bend.

Levada Knopp O’Brien

Levada Eileen Knopp O’Brien, 77, of Millwood, formerly of Spencer, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Virgil and Alta Brabham Knopp. She was a quality control supervisor at Kellwood Company, a member of Slate United Methodist Church and attended Ravenswood Church of God. She was a Christian.
She is survived by three sons, George Edward O’Brien of Millwood and John Wesley O’Brien and Glenn Stephen O’Brien, both of Maryville, Tenn.; three sisters, Betty Gae Koone and Glenda Jean Knopp, both of Spencer and Jo Ann Norman of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Larry C. Knopp of Spencer and Harry Knopp of Parkersburg; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George O’Brien; two sons, Michael Ray and Jimmie Lee O’Brien; and a brother, Raymond Knopp.
Service was Tuesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Whited officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Spencer.

Paul Edward Perry Sr.

Paul Edward Perry Sr., 37, of Spencer died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Ohio, a son of the late Francis William Perry Sr.
He is survived by his companion, Ellen Fisher of Spencer; one daughter, Mara Perry of the home; two sons, Paul Perry Jr., also of the home, and Michael Perry of Ravenswood; and one brother, Bill Perry Jr. of Iraq.
Per his request, the body was cremated. There was no service or visitation. Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Lou Price

Margaret Lou Harris Price, 62, of Spencer died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at Roane General Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Hoy and Mable Long Harris. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at Norris Industries, Board-DePue Realty and Spencer State Hospital. She was a Christian and member of Steele Hollow Community Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Brenda Starcher and Angela Price, both of Spencer, and Linda Patrick of Ohio; one son, Charles Price of Spencer; three sisters, Violet Price and Carolyn Smith, both of Spencer, and Frances Board of Ohio; three brothers, Melvin Harris of Cottageville and Wilbur and Raymond Harris, both of Ohio; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Lawrence Fairchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herbert Price; two sisters, Edna Meighen and Freda Harris; and two brothers, Jack and Bobby Harris.
Graveside service was Monday at Eventide Cemetery with Rev. Jackie Roberts officiating. Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jimmie Ray Rogers

Jimmie Ray Rogers, 70, of Grantsville died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville.
He was a member of Frozen Run Baptist Church.
He is survived by his parents, Claud and Clara Cottrell Rogers; his wife, Jacqueline Pearson Rogers; sons, David Rogers of Spencer, Earl Rogers of Forestville, Md., and Tracy Tibbs of Landing, Md.; daughters, Patricia Thornberry and Anna Wade, both of Bowie, Md.; sisters, Maxine McCumbers of Orma and Shirley Collins and Erma Collins, both of Marion, Va.; brothers, Nelson Rogers of Shock, Robert Rogers of Gallipolis, Ohio, and Basil Rogers of Warren, Ohio; seven grandsons; three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
Service was Wednesday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial was in Cottrell Cemetery on Frozen Run.

Charles R. Silket

Charles R. Silket, 75, of Spencer died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at Roane General Hospital following a short illness.
He was born in Roane County, a son of the late Ayward and Olive Brabham Silket. He was employed at Babcock & Wilcox Company in Barberton, Ohio, for 30 years. After his retirement, he returned to Spencer, where he was a farmer and a stockman.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Daisy Bunton Silket; special nephew, Roy Silket of Gay; and a niece, Jean Jessell of Clinton, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Carroll Silket; and a sister, Evelyn Silket.
Service was Wednesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Spencer.

Helen Price Stacy

Helen Price Stacy, 88, of West Liberty, Ky., died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at the West Liberty Nursing and Rehab Center.
She was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Earl D. and Amy Price. She was a graduate of Morgan County High School and worked several years at The Courier Publishing Company in West Liberty. She spent her later years in freelance writing and painting. She was one of 16 Kentucky Heritage Artists, a member of the Foothills Artists in West Liberty and the Lexington Art League. She served on numerous advisory boards and was named a Kentucky Colonel by two governors. She was given an honorary doctorate degree from Morehead State University in 1996.
She is survived by a sister, Anna Jean Allen of West Liberty; six nephews; one niece; several great-nephews and great-nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Henry Lee Stacy; and two brothers.
Service was Saturday at Potter Funeral Home, West Liberty with Rev. Kenneth Jett officiating. Burial was in Salyer Cemetery, West Liberty.

Arleta A. Sturm

Arleta A. Sturm, 91, of Millstone died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville.
She was born at Millstone, a daughter of the late George and Nora Ball McKee. She was a member of Albert’s Chapel United Methodist Church, Sand Ridge.
She is survived by her husband, Carl F. Sturm of Millstone; a daughter, Judy Lambert of Rootstown, Ohio; a brother, Gordon McKee of Millstone; a sister, Lenell Stalnaker of Millstone; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her caregiver, Norma Gumm.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Arco McKee and Rev. Glendon McKee; and a sister, Flo Hall.
Service was Sunday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg with Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial was in Sturm Cemetery at Millstone.

Randall Edwin Whytsell

Randall Edwin Whytsell, 91, of Arnoldsburg died Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 at Minnie Hamilton Health System, Grantsville.
He was born at Richardson, a son of the late Edwin Lowell and Rettie Starcher Whytsell.
He was a farmer and worked for Monongahela Power Company and Pennzoil. He played guitar and sang with his brother, Woodrow, as the Whytsell Brothers. He attended Leatherbark Community Church and Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his daughter, Peggy Lou Stemple; one brother, Victor Eugene Whytsell of Arnoldsburg; one grandson; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Blanche Parrill Whytsell; two sisters, Hazel Mae Kemmner Connolly and Elizabeth Almira McCoy; and three brothers, Charles Davis Whytsell, Woodrow Wilson Whytsell and Dewey Paul Whytsell.
Service was Tuesday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg with Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial was in Lynch Cemetery, Arnoldsburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Calhoun County Committee on Aging, Arnoldsburg Community Park, Leatherbark Community Church or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
