Forest D. Baughman
Forest Dwight Baughman, 92, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2007.
He was the son of the late Floyd Baughman and Mae Parsons Baughman.
He is survived by four sons, Matt, Dwayne, Dale, and David; six daughters, Kim, Janet, Janice, Rebecca, Brenda, and Lane; and 19 grandchildren.
There will be no service. E.F. Drum Funeral Home, Lincolnton, N.C., was in charge of arrangements.
Jetty E. Carpenter
Jetty E. Carpenter, 76, of Spencer, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2007 at Roane General Hospital.
He was born at Harmony, a son of the late Johnny Hoyt and Beulah Cobb Carpenter. He was a tool and die maker, a businessman and a farmer. He was an ordained Baptist minister and was pastor at several Roane churches. He was a member of the Harmony Baptist Association and attended Henry’s Fork Baptist Church, Tariff, and Boggs Fork Community Church. He was an army veteran and served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Naomi Jewell Nichols Carpenter; one daughter, Stephanie Carpenter of Spencer; three sons, Steve of Spencer, Ron of Knoxville, Tenn., and Josh of Spencer; two brothers, Johnny H. Jr. of Gandeeville and Gerald of Harmony; six sisters, Irene Harris of Cicerone, Pauline Bee of Parkersburg, Maxine Lilly of Hardeesville, S.C., Erline Tolley of Canton, Ohio, and Octavia “Toots” Cox and Mary Lou Hargus, both of Harmony; and seven grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Ferris.
Service was Wednesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Davis and Rev. Smith Epling officiating. Burial was in the family cemetery, Boggs Fork Road, with military graveside rites performed by local veterans.
Roland Rex Griffin
Roland Rex Griffin, 69, of Olive Branch, Miss., formerly of Arnoldsburg, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East, Memphis, Tenn.
He was born at Arnoldsburg, a son of the late Rex Scott and Edith Webb Griffin. He was an air force veteran and a retired crew chief for Northwest Airlines.
He is survived by one daughter, Tara Jackson of California; one sister, Diane Shook of Potomac, Md.; one brother, Gary Griffin of Dousan, Wis.; and two grandchildren.
Service is at 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial will be with Masonic graveside rites performed by Eureka Lodge #40 AF&AM, Grantsville, and with military rites performed by the American Legion Post of Spencer. Visitation is at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Bina A. Hicks
Bina A. Hicks, 91, of Akron, Ohio, formerly of Chloe, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at Hospice of Ridgwood, Akron.
She was born in Clay County, a daughter of the late Lambert and Rebecca Mollohan Cooper. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Candice Burnside of Akron; three sisters, Marlene Tanner of Nebo, Elva Browning of Charleston and Elza Vaughan of Dunbar; and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rector Hicks.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Jim Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Hicks Cemetery, Chloe. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Louise Iris Jarvis
Louise Iris Jarvis, 72, of Spencer, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at Country Living Care Home, Arnoldsburg, after an extended illness.
She was born at Clio, a daughter of the late Opie D. and Mable S. Harper Jackson. She retired as a supervisor from Kellwood Company after more than 30 years. She was a 1953 graduate of Walton High School, a Christian and a member of Reedy Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Pamela Lea Miller of Reedy; two stepsons, Timothy W. and Michael W., both of Spencer; four sisters, Imogene Gwinn of Ravenswood, Kathleen Greenlief of Elkview, Shelby Gunter of St. Albans and Patricia Schnieder of Columbus, Ohio; one brother, Corbitt Jackson of Suffolk, Va.; caregivers Robin and Marvin Holstein of Arnoldsburg; and one granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Jack W. Jarvis; two brothers, Doral and Shelton Jackson; one sister, Doris Jackson; and one grandson.
Service was Saturday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Charles E. Leisure officiating. Burial was in Eventide Cemetery.

Robert C. Moneypenny
Robert C. “Bob” Moneypenny, 74, of Mt. Zion, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Parkersburg.
He was born at Arnoldsburg, a son of the late Henry Clay and Emma Hoskins Moneypenny. He was a retired pipeliner and truck driver for S.T. Pipeline, Clendenin. He was a born-again Christian.
He is survived by four sons, Curtis of Tennessee, James of Grantsville, and Joseph and David, both of North Carolina; one sister, Carol Heflin of Akron, Ohio; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated. Service will be conducted later. John H. Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Delbert O. Roberts
Delbert O. Roberts, 78, of Spencer, died Monday, Nov. 19, 2007 at CAMC General Division, Charleston.
He was born in Roane County, a son of the late James Nevel Craig and Icie Mae Blackwell Roberts. He was an army veteran and member of American Legion Post #21. He was retired from Crihfield Motors and attended Advent Christian Church.
He is survived by one sister, Naomi Robinson of Elkview; one brother, Daniel of Vienna; and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willadean Paxton Roberts; and three children, Debra, Donna and James Porter “J.P” Roberts.
Service was Friday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Alan Westfall officiating. Burial was in Eventide Cemetery with graveside military rites performed by local veterans.
