Doris Ann Parsons

Doris Ann Parsons, 54, of Millstone, died Friday, June 13, 2008 at home.
She was born at Pigeon, a daughter of Paul and Garnet Parsons of Roanoke.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by four brothers, Allen and Randy, both of Millstone, Alvin of Arnoldsburg and Lesley of Orrville, Ohio.
Private service will be later. Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Robert ‘Bob’ Rentschler

Dr. Robert “Bob” Vincent Rentschler, Jr., 59, of Berkeley Springs died Sunday, June 15, 2008.
He was born in Pasadena, Calif., a son of the late Robert Vincent Rentschler Sr. and Geneva Alice Shreve Rentschler.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lea Rentschler; brothers, Charles F. Rentschler Sr. of San Antonio, and Dr. Lawrence L. Rentschler of Swanton, Md.; sisters, Geneva “Jeannie” R. Gallagher of Washington, Maureen R. Sharps of Oakland, Md., and Shirley E. Rentschler-Hull of Hagerstown, Md.
He was serving as principal of Warm Springs Intermediate School in Berkeley Springs. In his 33-year career in education, he taught and served as the principal of several elementary schools in Maryland, West Virginia and Massachusetts, served as the curriculum director for Pendleton County Schools, and was the director of Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center for seven years. He was principal of Geary Elementary/Middle School in 1985-86 and was assistant principal at Spencer Elementary School for a short time in the fall of 1986.
Prior to pursuing his post-secondary education, Bob served in the US Army. He received the Bronze Star, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, Army Commendation, and other medals while serving two combat tours in South Vietnam, 1968-1969. He later worked at the Pentagon investigating the My Lai massacre. In less than three years, he ended his military service in 1971 as a Staff Sergeant, E-6.
He graduated cum laude from Glenville State College in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. He earned his master's degree in elementary administration and supervision from Frostburg State University in 1977, and his Ph.D. in education, curriculum and instruction in 1994 from Walden University. He was awarded the Association for Direct Instruction Excellence in Education Award, for research in 1998.
Service will be today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Berkeley Baptist Church with Pastor George Hopkins officiating.

John M. Vineyard

John M. Vineyard, 83, of Melbourne, Fla., died Saturday, June 14, 2008 at home.
He was born at Walton, a son of the late Virginia and Hallie Steele. He constructed pipelines for Harbert International and was project manager for the Israeli air force base, Negev. He was an army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by two sisters, Donna Criner and Nancy Buntin; one daughter, Barbara Danielle; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy Vineyard; one son, James M.; and one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Graveside service was Tuesday at Florida Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cole Wisnewski Memorial Scholarship Fund, BCC Foundation, 1519 Clearlake Rd., Cocoa FL 32922.
