Carl Eugene Benson
Carl Eugene Benson, 82, of Ripley, died Monday, July 23, 2007 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, following an extended illness.
He was born at Sidneyville, a son of the late Clarence Hampton and Ethel May Balser Benson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in World War II, and retired as a manager of JCo Lumber, Ripley, after 35 years. He was a member of Sidneyville United Methodist Church, where he served as teacher and Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Mae Pickens Benson; one son, Marlin E. Benson of Ripley; one daughter, Janice Dunlap of St. Albans; four brothers, Ralph of Ripley, Vernon of Rockport, Kenneth of Missouri City, Texas, and Lawrence “Larry” of Michigan; two sisters, Viola McMahon of Lubeck and Helen Thomas of Silverton; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond.
Service was Friday at Casto Funeral Home, Ravenswood, with Rev. Danny Cummings officiating. Burial was in Ravenswood Cemetery with military graveside service by VFW Post 6669.
Everett E. Doolittle
Everett E. Doolittle, 72, of Big Bend, died Friday, July 27, 2007 at his home.
Born in Glenville, he was a son of the late Rufus and Susie Grady Doolittle. He was a timberman for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Alma M. Doolittle; two sons, Earl of Spencer and Jack of Big Bend; five daughters, Wilma Tucker of Washington Court House, Ohio, Glenna Conley of Elizabeth, and Annalee McCumbers, Cricket Metz and Dora Doolittle, all of Big Bend; one brother, Raymond of Garrettsville, Ohio; and 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Dave and an infant; and two brothers, Paul and Rufus.
Service was Monday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Bill Villers officiating. Burial was in Mt. Run Cemetery, Nicut.
