Tasha M. Boggs
--Tasha Michelle Boggs, 38, of Reedy, died Monday, May 14, 2007 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh.
She was born in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of the late Patricia Chapman, stepfather Larry Miller and father Frank Jackson. She was an LPN graduate and had completed two years of RN schooling.
She is survived by her husband, Craig Boggs of Spencer; one daughter, Keilah Tyann Boggs; and one son, Cody Lee James Boggs.
Service is today (Thursday) at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor John Paul Boggs officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, P.O. Box 41, Spencer WV 25276.
Evelyn S. Dye
--Evelyn S. Dye, 90, of Spencer, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Roane General Hospital.
She was born in Philippi, a daughter of the late Carson and Ellen Bennett Stemple. She was a retired Spencer Grade School teacher and a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, John Dye; one daughter, Marty Cassady of Dallas; one son, Carson Dye of Toledo, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Martha Stemple; and one granddaughter, Beth Cassady.
Service is today (Thursday) at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael F. “Mike” King officiating. Burial is in Eventide Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Spencer, “Elevator Project”, 338 Main St., Spencer WV 25276.
Earl Curtis Harper
--Earl Curtis Harper, 82, of North Carolina, died Tuesday, May 8, 2007.
He was born at Walton, a son of the late Lenzy Ernest and Dona Gay Harper. He retired from the Pennzoil Company after 38 years of working in the oil fields of West Virginia and then worked for Lowe’s Food for 12 years in Hickory, N.C. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Newton, N.C.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Willadene Hunt Harper; two daughters, Sandra Jahn of Hickory and Denise Ann Moss of Lake Wales, Fla.; one son, Douglas Harper of Newton, N.C.; one sister, Ruth Harper Skaggs of Charleston; one brother, Lenzy Ernest Harper, Jr. of Glen Mills, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Curtis Harper; and one sister, Gladys Harper O’dell.
Service was Friday at Trinity Baptist Church, Newton, N.C., with the Rev. Brant Hoots officiating. Burial was in Catawba Memorial Park.
Gary Lee Harper
--Gary Lee Harper, 64, of Branchland, died Monday, May 14, 2007.
He was born in Charleston, a son of the late Nelson Earl and Ollie Moore Harper. He was a welder for Pucel Enterprises Inc., Cleveland. He retired in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sue Wilson Harper; two sons, Jeffrey A. Harper of Charleston and William Scott Harper of Spencer; four sisters, Betty Baily of Millwood, Katherine Sue Lowe of Walton, Doris Lowe of Cleveland and Dorothy Faber of Kenna; two brothers, Gerald Harper of Charleston and Herby Nelson Harper of Walton; and six grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, James, Ronald, Larry, Lane and Wayne Harper.
Service is today (Thursday) at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, with Rev. Lonnie Wilson officiating. Burial is in Franklin Cemetery, Branchland.
Jessie H. Hersman
--Jessie H. Hersman, 70, of Gandeeville, died Saturday, May 12, 2007 at Roane General Hospital.
He was born at Vicars, a son of the late Jacob Floyd and Dolly Jane Cobb Hersman. He was a retired construction worker, a member of the United Steel Workers Union and a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Patsy J. Payne Hersman; two daughters, Terry Milam of Ripley and Theda Nida of Spencer; one son, Jeffrey Hersman of Gandeeville; one brother, Rudie Hersman of Louisville, Ohio; five sisters, Tressie Jones and Berdiehl Smith, both of Harmony, Ruby Petrackis of Ambler Ridge, Gertrude Rhodes of Advent and Hazel Collins of Reedy; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Brooks, Roy, Donald, Troy, James “Ab”, and Oval Hersman; two sisters, Elva Fields and Wanda Hersman.
Service was Monday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Jones and Rev. Ernest Cox officiating. Burial was in Gandeeville Cemetery.
Robert F. Moss
--Robert F. Moss, 69, of Spencer, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at his home.
He was born at Orton, a son of the late Harl and Edith Moss. He was a retired employee of General Motors, Flint, Mich., and a member of the United Auto Workers Union.
He is survived by his wife, Vesta A. Moss; one son, Scott Moss of Medina, Ohio; one sister, Betty Stalnaker of Normantown; one brother, David Moss of Florida; and four grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Hazel Moss; four brothers, Charlie, Junior, Denzil and Kenneth Moss.

Bobby Whipkey
--Bobby Whipkey, 39, of Greeneville, Tenn., died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at Takoma Regional Hospital.
He is survived by his mother, Hester Elizabeth Stump of Mt. Zion; his wife, Patsy; two step-children, Robert Dunbar of Jonesborough, Tenn., and Rachel Dunbar of Greeneville; two brothers, Ralph Whipkey Jr. of Maryland and Mike Whipkey of Arnoldsburg; four sisters, Micki Hickman of Gilboa, Lynn Morrison of Nobe, Della Nichols of Mt. Zion and Bea Robinson of Tanner; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Whipkey; and two sisters, Rita and Vicki.
Service is today (Thursday) at Whittenberg United Methodist Church with Rev. Richie Neese and Rev. Phil Hickman officiating. Burial is in the church cemetery.
Sarah A. White
--Sarah A. White, 84, of Mason, died Friday, May 11, 2007 at Overbrook Nursing Center, Middleport, Ohio.
Born in Roane County, she was a daughter of the late Richard Horton and Oshal Horton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beech Grove Methodist Church, Reedy.
She is survived by her husband, Rex White of Mason; and two sisters, Peral Manion of Valley Sheam, N.Y., and Etta Sergent of Reedy.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Richard “Dick” Horton Jr.
Correction
Some information published last week in an obituary for William L Foster of Gandeeville was incorrect. Foster, who died Saturday, May 5 at the age of 76, was buried at Woodstown Baptist Church Cemetery, N.J., with a military graveside service.
