Otmer Ray Elmore

Otmer Ray Elmore, 73, of Looneyville died Friday, June 26, 2009 at his home.
He was born in Roane County, a son of the late Joseph Otmer and Faye Thurman Harold Elmore. He was a retired employee of Pennzoil and a member of Linden Lodge No. 83 AF&AM. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his dogs.
He is survived by a daughter, Robin Bailey of Newton; a son Joseph Ray Elmore of Newton; a sister, Sharon Drake of Rockport; and an aunt, Susie Boggs of Cocoa, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Ashlee Jo Elmore.
Service was Monday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne McGlothlin officiating. Burial with Masonic graveside rites was in Clover Cemetery.

Emma L. Rogers

Emma L. Rogers, 76, of Newton died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Connie.
She was formerly a sweater factory seamstress and grocery store clerk. She was an avid reader, a gardener and quilter.
She is survived by her children, Connie Looney of Newton, Darlena Reynolds of Charleston, Arthur “A.J.” Rogers Jr. and Henry Rogers, both of Craigsville, Brenda Brown of Sissonville and John Paul Rogers of Pinch; sisters, Mary Moats, Desta Norris and Letha Cantrell; special niece Linda Braley; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Arthur L. Rogers, formerly of Clay County.
Burial was Sunday at Gandeeville Cemetery, with her son-in-law, Bill Reynolds, officiating.

Ondvel Lee "Billy" Starcher

Ondvel Lee “Billy” Starcher, 55, of Spencer died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston.
He was a son of JoAnn Price of Spencer and the late O.L. “Bill” Starcher. He was employed by the W.Va. Division of Highways until health problems arose. He was an avid WVU sports fan.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, Doris Selko; aunts, Joretta Foster, Phyllis Hudson, Lina Fetty and Wilma Heller; uncle, Frank Spiker; nieces, Nikki and Amanda; and extended family including Bruce Parsons and Aaron Cottle.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncles, Rex, Bernard, Alvin and Willard Starcher; and aunts, Earliss Starcher, Goldie Young, Opal Stout and Ruth Simons.
Service was Sunday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home. Burial was in the Starcher Cemetery, Calhoun County.


Lowell Claude Weekly

Lowell Claude Weekley, 76, of Nicut died Wednesday, June 24, 2009.
He was a Christian.
He is survived by daughters, Chris Merchant of St. Albans, Laurel Johnson of St. Louis; a son, David Weekley of Elizabeth; four brothers, Paul Weekley of Knoxville, Tenn., Bill Weekley of Wooster, Ohio, Carroll Weekley of Parkersburg and Larry Cottrell of Orma; three sisters, Sharon Hill of Limeboro, Md., Geneva Lucas of Kingman, Ariz., and Barbara Travis of Worthington; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Fred Weekley, Opal Weekley and Lear Weekley, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Thompson Weekley; a son, Dale Weekley; a sister, Glenna Pilgrim; two brothers, Robert Weekley and Loy Weekley; and a grandson.
Service was Sunday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. Burial was in Minnora Cemetery.


J.W. "Bus" White

J.W. “Bus” White, 77, of Advent, formerly of Tariff, died Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Eldercare of West Virginia, Ripley.
He was born at Tariff, a son of the late John W. and Alice Keen White. He was a retired farmer and owner of White and Keaton Logging. He was a member of Linden Lodge No. 83 AF&AM for more than 50 years and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by three daughters, one sister and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Vada Keaton White; one son; one daughter and several brothers and sisters.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel R. “Danny” Whited officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial with Masonic graveside rites will be in the Tariff Cemetery.
