Don O. McNutt

Don O. McNutt, 54, of Gandeeville, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg, after a short illness.
He was born in Zanesville, Ohio, a son of Don R. and Patty L. Ashcraft McNutt of Blue Rock, Ohio.
He was the owner of the Single-Arm Farm, Gandeeville. He was a member of Roane County Farm Bureau, the Burley Tobacco Council and the board of directors of the Southern States Cooperative. He was a graduate of Cal State University, Fresno, with a B.S. in Agricultural Business. He was also an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, a disabled American veteran and a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Ripley.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Patricia McNutt of Gandeeville; two daughters, Deana Miller of Spencer and Kellen McNutt of Morgantown; a son, Patrick McNutt of Lexington, Ky.; three brothers, Reed McNutt of Tryon, N.C., Patrick McNutt of Watertown, N.Y., and Michael McNutt of New Concord, Ohio; and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Koehler.
Service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, with Rev. Charles Hicks officiating. Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in Eventide Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Delores Jean Smith

Delores Jean Smith, 73, of Parkersburg died Friday, June 19, 2009 after an extended illness.
She was born in Spencer, a daughter of the late Ferd and Alice McCune. She was a member of 8th Avenue Baptist Gospel Temple.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Doyle Duane Smith of Parkersburg; three sons, David Starcher of Spencer, Rodney Starcher of Washington and Randy Smith of Parkersburg; four daughters, Diana Kersey of Walker, Jeanne Hughes and Christi Merrill, both of Slate Creek, and Jeannette Ketterman of Washington; a step-daughter, Debbie Goodwin of Florida; a step-son, Mike Smith of Washington; two sisters, Lella Mae Buckabee and Lona Logan; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a former husband, Basil Starcher; two brothers, Orville and Oley McCune; and two sisters, Berdele Webb and Edith Miller.
Service was Monday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.


Ruth Eloise Whited Taylor

Ruth Eloise Whited Taylor, 89, of Lynchburg, Va., died Saturday, May 30, 2009 at her home.
She was born at Walton, a daughter of Walter Rybrum and Ethel Raines Whited.
She was the last remaining survivor of the Stephen and Henrietta Cunningham Taylor family, outliving their 10 children and spouses. She was the widow of Chad Ray Taylor after 63 years of marriage.
She moved to North Carolina in 1956. She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Washington, N.C., until relocating in April 2003 to Lynchburg to live with her daughter, Sandra Taylor Day.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Day of Lynchburg and Patricia Taylor; one sister, Dorothy Whited Atkins of Washington; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Service was June 3 at First Baptist Church, Washington with Dr. Jimmy Moore; Rev. Mark Grooms; Rev. Stephen Atkins, nephew of the deceased; and Rev. Jim Phillips, nephew of the deceased, officiating.
Burial was in Oakdale Cemetery.
