Robert D. Anderson

--Robert Douglas Anderson, 37, of Gandeeville died Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2006 at Roane General Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto accident near Spencer.
He was born in Spencer, a son of Mary Harris Anderson of Gandeeville and the late Olen Anderson. He did odd jobs and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion, Deborah Wood of Spencer; two sisters, Karen Anderson Ray of Chloe and Sharon Belcher of Newark, Ohio; and three brothers, Frank, Clifford and David Anderson, all of Gandeeville.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ricky and Carl Anderson.
Per his wishes, the body was cremated. Graveside service was scheduled for later at Anderson Family Cemetery, Gandeeville.
Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Billy Junior Freeland

--Billy Junior Freeland, 69, of Spencer died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006 at Roane General Hospital after a long illness.
He was born in Spencer, a son of the late William and Blondina Blackwell Freeland. He worked for the city of Spencer for 31 years and retired in 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Webb Freeland; one daughter, Susan Freeland of Spencer; five sons, Arnold, Billy, David, all of Spencer, Ronald of Virginia Beach, Va., and Rick Freeland of Stony Point, N.C.; one sister, Peggy Starcher of Spencer; three brothers, Charles Freeland of Parkersburg, James Freeland of Reedy and Les Freeland of Calhoun County; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Sherrin Lee Freeland, Roger Freeland and twins, Larry and Jerry Freeland.
Service was Wednesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Whited and Rev. John Lowe officiating. Burial was in Otto Cemetery near Spencer.

Marcia Anne Hays-Drake

--Marcia Anne Hays-Drake, 44, Spencer died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 after a long illness of heart disease and diabetes.
She was born in Charleston, a daughter of Marjorie Hays-Barnett of Looneyville and the late William R. Hays, formerly of Spencer.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by one son, Samuel Glen Harrison of Spencer; two sisters, Martha Jane Smith of Spencer and Lisa Delaney of Spencer; and one brother, William T. Hays of Looneyville.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Earl G. “Sandy” Barnett of Looneyville; and grandparents, Ralph W. and Nettie King of Looneyville.
Service is 1 p.m. today (Thursday) at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Michael F. “Mike” King officiating. Burial will be in Clover Cemetery.

Alice Perkins Nichols

--Alice Marie Perkins Nichols, 79, of Spencer died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006 at Roane General Hospital.
She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Raymond and Deffie Parks Perkins. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Skeen of Spencer and Kathy Kalustian of Meadville, Pa.; two sons, Mike Nichols of Spencer and Greg Nichols of Meadville; three sisters, Genevieve Litton and Judy Knopp, both of Mineral Wells, and Janice Batten of Gay; three brothers, Ray and Ronnie Perkins, both of Spencer, and Elbert Perkins of Florida; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Simon Mac Nichols.
Service was Sunday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial was in Mt. Herman Cemetery near Harmony.

--In the obituary published last week for William Brady Reed Jr. the names of the following people were incorrectly listed as deceased. He is survived by two sisters, Glendine Meadows of Southern Pines, N.C., and Betty Acree of Goldsboro, N.C.; and one brother, Robert Reed of Short Hill, N.C.
