Thomas V. Foster Jr.

--Thomas V. Foster Jr., 76, of Williamstown died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Roane County, a son of the late Thomas and Opal Riddel Foster. He was a graduate of Spencer High School and West Virginia University. He worked as a pharmaceutical representative for over 40 years with Bristol-Myers Squibb in West Virginia and southeastern Ohio. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and attended the 36th Street Church of Christ, Vienna. He enjoyed boating and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Toomey Foster; three children, Sue Jackson of Williamstown, Jeff Foster of Cortland, Ohio, and Cheri Bush of Vermilion, Ohio; one sister, Eleanor Grudier of Spencer; stepchildren, Mark Eddy of Wheeling, Carla Stewart and Mike Eddy both of Rock Hill, S.C.; and six grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Foster Phillips.
Service was Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Tom Butterfield officiating. Burial was in Rockland Cemetery.

Ocie J. Helmick

--Ocie J. “Judy” Helmic, 62 of Rosedale died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2006 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
She was born at Minnora, a daughter of the late Emerson and Pearl Keener Bailey.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene G. Helmick; two children, Wayne Helmick of Manassas, Va., and Sandy Hoskins of Charleston; two sisters, Velma Conner of Furndale, Md., and Virginia Lowry of Orrville, Ohio; two brothers, Adderson Bailey of Orrville and Steven Bailey of Granville, Ohio; and four grandsons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings.
Service was Friday at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Loren Price officiating. Burial was in Metz Cemetery, Nicut.

William Homer Hively

--William Homer Hively, 71, of Belmont died Monday, Dec. 4 at Carehaven of Pleasants, Belmont after a long illness.
He was born in Spencer, a son of the late Homer Edward and Norma Hively. He was a bricklayer and an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
He is survived by one daughter, Sarah Hively of Marietta, Ohio; two sons, Matthew Hively, of Marietta and Ron Slagle of Waverly; two sisters, Rebecca Hersman of Parkersburg and Loretta Fette of Conyers, Ga.; two brothers, Timothy Hively of Ohio and David Hively of Parkersburg; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Riley Hively; two sons, Jeffrey Scott Hively and William Hively Jr.; and two brothers, Larry and Edward Hively.
Service is 11 a.m., Friday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home. Visitation is two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Egypt Cemetery near Spencer.

Charles William Kincaid

--Charles William “Bill” Kincaid, 81, of Spencer died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006.
He was a son of the late Ott G. and Maude E. Kincaid. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was in the wholesale and retail grocery business.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara R. Bennett Kincaid; three daughters, Judy Miller and Janet Starcher, both of Spencer, and Jane Heasley of Morgantown; one son, Jeff Kincaid of Clarkston, Mich.; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry and James Kincaid.
Memorial service is 2 p.m., Saturday at First Baptist Church of Spencer. Visitation is one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Elevator Fund for First Baptist Church of Spencer.

John Anthony Nutter

--John Anthony Nutter, 68, of Lakeland, Fla., died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at home after a sudden illness.
He was born in Spencer, a son of the late William Jennings and Evelyn Belle Sarver Nutter. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a life member of the National Rifle Association. He retired from the service station business.
He is survived by one sister, Virginia Lynn Garnar of Keystone Heights, Fla.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents; paternal grandparents, John Morton and Malinda Connolly Nutter; one sister, June Carpenter Hudson; and one brother, Joseph William Nutter, all originally from Roane County.
Service is 11:30 a.m., Saturday at the clubhouse in Citrus Wood Estates, Lakeland, Fla. Burial will be later in Connolly Cemetery, Roane County.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Anchor House, 3000 K-Ville Ave., Lakeland FL 32301.

Alford Clay Rhodes

--Alford Clay Rhodes, 79, of Peniel died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2006 at Nicholas County Health Care Center, Richwood, after a short illness.
He was born at Harmony, a son of the late Dayton and Dessie Rhodes. He was a boilermaker, enjoyed gardening and was a member of Peniel United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife, Zelma Wicker Rhodes; two daughters, Pamela R. Withrow of Crawley and Kathy Whoolery of Spencer; two sons, Alford Clay Rhodes Jr. and Jerry Lee Rhodes, both of Spencer; two brothers, Wilber Rhodes of Charleston and Jim Rhodes of Ripley; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Service was Tuesday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Peniel.

Rachel M. Wright

--Rachel M. Wright, 96, of Spencer died Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006 at Roane General Hospital.
She was born in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Abie and Maranda Conley Starcher. She was a homemaker and formerly attended Zion Methodist Church.
She is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -neph-ews, and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter G. Wright; three brothers, Holly, Joe and Okey Starcher; and four sisters, Hazel and Dollie Starcher, Ruby Midcap and Nell Clark Steele.
Service was Saturday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Leon Strickland officiating. Burial was in Spencer Memorial Cemetery.
