Larry R. Jett

--Larry R. Jett, 65, of Looneyville died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2006 at his farm from injuries received in a farming related ATV accident.
He was born in Charleston, a son of Thelma G. Smith Jett of Looneyville and the late Erstine R. “Herb” Jett. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Carpenter’s Local No. 1207, Charleston. He was a 1958 graduate of Spencer High School.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, June Jett of Looneyville; one daughter, Sandy Wilson of Leroy; three sons, Don Jett of Given, David Jett and Tim Jett, both of Looneyville; five brothers, Ronnie Jett of Elkview, Danny “Duke” Jett, Terry Jett, Blake Jett and Jimmy Jett, all of Looneyville; two sisters, Cathy Foster of Cartersville, Ga., and Judy Myers of Looneyville; and nine grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, one great-grandson and five step-great-grandchildren.
Service was Wednesday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Perrine officiating. Burial was in Smith Cemetery, Looneyville.

Thomas H. Massey III

--Thomas H. Massey III, 26, of Summersville died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 at CAMC General Hospital, Charleston.
He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Tina Estep Massey of Spencer; one son, Corey Shawn Massey of Summersville; his fiancée, Niki Massey of Summersville; two brothers, Donald L. Massey III of Summersville and Joseph E. Massey of Franklinville, N.C.; and grandparents, Donald and Carol Massey of Whitesville, Charles and Betty Good of Gilboa and Carol Estep of Dawes.
Service was Monday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence McKown officiating. Burial was in Midcap Family Cemetery near Spencer.

Vonnie Mae Potter

--Vonnie Mae Potter, 69, of Spencer died Sunday, Dec. 17, 2006 at Roane General Hospital.
She was a daughter of the late Perry Greathouse and the late Evelyn Waggoner Greathouse Wilson. She was retired from Quality Upholstery and Potter’s Personal Care Home where she provided care to many local residents for 37 years.
She is survived by two sons, Peter Allen Potter of Spencer and Timothy Floyd Potter of Sissonville; three daughters, Donna Anderson of Lake Washington, Mary Davis of Clover and Rebecca Hildreth of Spencer; one sister, Marjory Tanner of Ravenswood; three brothers, Verman Ray Wilson of Charleston, Richard Wilson of Looneyville and Stephen Wilson of Little Pigeon; and 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Verman Wilson; husband, Robert Sherman Potter; one son, Bobby Lee Potter; three sisters, Barbara McCallister, Patricia Greathosue and Martha Jane Wilson; and two brothers, Charles and Franklin Wilson.
Service was Tuesday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Roberts officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery.

Zelma Frances Rhodes

--Zelma Frances Wicker Rhodes, 73, of Peniel, died Thursday, Dec. 14, 2006 at Richwood Area Community Hospital after a long illness.
She was born in Sanford, N.C., a daughter of the late Floyd Milton and Alma Patterson Rhodes.
She is survived by two daughters, Pamela R. Withrow of Crawley and Kathy Whoolery of Spencer; two sons, Alford Clay Rhodes Jr. and Jerry Lee Rhodes, both of Spencer; two brothers, Bingham Wicker of Carthage, N.C., and Delmous Wicker of Sanford; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alford Clay Rhodes on Dec. 3, 2006.
Service was Sunday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Phil Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery near Peniel.

Maurice Edward Webb

--Maurice Edward “Eddie” Webb, 82, of Huntington died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006 at V.A. Medical Center, Huntington.
He was a son of the late William Wallace Webb and the late Lilyan Kirk Webb Fugett. He was a retired employee of the V.A. Medical Center. He was a graduate of Huntington East High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Spencer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Bobbie J. Webb; three daughters, Ellen West of Pontiac, Mich., Linda Glover of Ona, and Robin Davis of Huntington; one son, Daniel Webb of Philadelphia; two stepdaughters, Debra Moore of Dunbar and Carol Polan of Huntington; one stepson, Richard Bennett of Spencer; one sister, Edith Hatten of Huntington; and 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Service was Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Spencer with Rev. Leon B. Strickland officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in Clover Cemetery.
John H. Taylor Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
