Alcie Whited Boggs
--Alcie Whited Boggs, 97, of Batavia, Ohio, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006 at Light Home nursing home in Redding, Ohio.
She was born at Walton, a daughter of the late I.A. and Minnie Noel Whited. She was a graduate of Walton High School and Glenville State College. She was a teacher in Roane County for two years. She was a 30-year employee of Coca-Cola Co., Cincinnati. She was a charter member of Bells Lane Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for 31 years.
She is survived by one son, Clair Damon Boggs of Batavia; one daughter, Sheila Bray of Cincinnati; two sisters, Azeline Pauley of Baltimore and Ruby G. Shaver of Walton; and six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce O. Boggs; three brothers, Wilfred M. Whited, formerly of Walton, Joe Whited, formerly of Spencer and Cochoton, Ohio, and Mayford Whited, formerly of Walton and West Melbourne, Fla.; three sisters, Ival Whited, Goldie Lynch, and Edna Marks, all formerly of Walton; and one grandson.
Service was Friday, Oct. 20, at Moore Family Funeral Home, Batavia. Burial was in Olive Branch Cemetery, Batavia.
Luree S. Frymier
--Luree Snodgrass Frymier, 89, of Parkersburg died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at Camden-Clark Hospital, Parkersburg, after a brief illness.
She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Garvin and Blanche Pence Snodgrass. She was a former resident of South Charleston and Haines City, Fla. She resided at The Wyngate Senior Living Community in Parkersburg.
She is survived by one brother, Amos Snodgrass of Spencer.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold Johnson and Howard Frymier; two sisters, Iris Marie Elliott and Eve Juanita Lowe; and three brothers, Esker Dale Snodgrass, Joseph Eugene Snodgrass and Andy Snodgrass.
Service is 2 p.m. Friday at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston.
Larry K. McGlothlin
--Larry Kenneth McGlothlin, 62, of Bickmore, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2006 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
He was born at Amma, a son of the late James Edward McGlothlin and Lynna Blanche Ledsome McGlothlin. He was a Navy veteran and attended Clay First Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Kenneth McGlothlin of Bickmore and Tony McGlothlin of Clay; one daughter, Rena Lynn Stewart of Bickmore; three sisters, Karen Tully of Poca, Janet Paxton of Amma and Ruth Nichols of Canton, Ohio; and 10 grandchildren.
Service will be later. Carl Wilson Funeral Home, Clay, is in charge of arrangements.
Lorraine E. Milhoan
--Lorraine Elizabeth Milhoan, 75, of Leroy died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 at Roane General Hospital following a long illness.
She was born in Ravenswood, a daughter of the late Romie and Florence Ann Burgess. She was a Christian.
She is survived by three sons, James L. Milhoan of Leroy, William K. Milhoan of Sandyville and Roger Milhoan of Spencer; seven daughters, Della Mace, Margaret Nichols, Earline Milhoan, all of Leroy, Delia Sampson of Peniel, Jeanie Pettit, Linda Holliday, both of Spencer, Virginia Jo Anderson of Gay; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” Burgess of Apollo, Pa., and Cecil Burgess of Cottageville; two sisters, Josephine Smith of Smithville, Ohio, and Doris Moore of Evans; and 25 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Milhoan; and one son, Romie Milhoan.
Service was Saturday at Mill Creek Baptist Church, Frozen Camp, with Rev. Herman Robinson officiating. Burial was in Baptist Grove Cemetery.
Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley, was in charge of arrangements.
Joseph A. Prater
--Joseph A. Prater, 44, of Statts Mill died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at Hubbard House, Charleston.
He was born in Charleston, a son of Richard Prater and Blanche Parsons Little. He was a mechanic for the city of Charleston.
He is survived by his wife, Kandy Prater; one son Jeremiah Joseph William Prater; four daughters, Monica Starr Prater of Charleston, Brandee Jo Prater, Michaella Kathleen Prater and Alexia Danielle Prater; two brothers, Tim Parsons of Spencer and Wayne Prater of Florida; and grandparents, Michie Seabolt of Spencer and Irene Morgan of Summersville.
Service was Monday at Parsons-Waybright Funeral Home, Ripley with Pastor Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial was in Parsons Cemetery, Gay.
Russell S. Schoolcraft
--Russell S. Schoolcraft, 90, of Spencer died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006 at Roane General Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born at Walton, a son of the late Madison and Elma Garst Schoolcraft. He was a retired mail carrier and farmer. He was a former employee of Goodyear Tire, Charleston, and the Ordnance Plant, South Charleston. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post No. 21, Spencer.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Freda K. Harper Schoolcraft; five daughters, Sherry Truman of Spencer, Wanda Walden of Georgetown, Texas, Karen Hedges of Morgantown, Teri McDuffie of Sadieville, Ky., and Jerie Truman of Charleston; one son, Russell Schoolcraft Jr. of Clover; one brother, Raymond Schoolcraft of Walton; two sisters, Rosa Casto of Clendenin and Vesta Feazelle of Dunbar; and 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Service was Tuesday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel R. “Danny” Whited officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery.
Judy Gale Starcher
--Judy Gale Starcher, 62, of Elkview, formerly of Spencer, died Friday, Nov. 3, 2006 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
She was born in Roane County, a daughter of the late Ella Cottrell. She formerly cleaned houses in the Spencer area and was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Lora Hall of Hinton, Va., and Sheila Rudisill of Charleston; two sons, James Starcher and Stanley Starcher, both of Charleston; two sisters, Wanda Radcliff and Ann McGlothlin, both of Cleveland; companion, John Dahms; and 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Service was Sunday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. Garry Bowen officiating. Burial will be later in Wallback Cemetery.
Frederick H. Waybright
--Frederick H. Waybright, 69, of Reedy died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
He was born in Ripley, a son of the late Harvey Harrison and Iva Mae Raines Waybright. He was a retired employee of General Excavating Inc., Winchester, Va. He was a former employee of State Construction and Cedar Lakes Conference Center, Ripley. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Harmony Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Fred Waybright of Arnoldsburg and Tim Waybright of Georgia; two daughters, Kelli Weatherholtz of Woodstock, Va., and Tracy Rhodes of Mt. Jackson, Va.; one sister, Stella Jenkins of Jacksonville, N.C.; one brother, Nelson Otho Waybright of Cleveland; and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Stacy Waybright; one brother, Ronald Waybright; and one sister, Margaret Reynolds.
Service was Sunday at John H. Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel McClung officiating. Burial with military graveside rites was in Looney Cemetery, Walton.
