Affordable Auto Body champs for fifth straight season
Affordable Auto Body got one for the thumb Thursday by winning its fifth consecutive championship in the Spencer Summer Basketball League. A.J. Cooper led a balanced effort with 17 points as Affordable, the top playoff seed, went ahead midway through the first half and was never threatened in a 56-47 decision over B&B Roofing at the Roane County High gym.
Cooper had four 3-pointers for the champs, who also got 14 points from Rhett Atkinson and 11 from Colter Taylor.
Benji McKenzie was the only double figure scorer for B&B, the No. 2 seed, with 11 points and Gabe Carey contributed nine. McKenzie scored all of his points after halftime.
