Gunnar Shogren of Morgantown, a former champion, completed the 30K course — two laps around the lake — in 1 hour, 48 minutes and 39 seconds. That was good enough to beat runner-up Jason Cyr of Davis’ time of 1.48:41.
Joey Riddle of Elkins was third, Andy Gorski fourth and Jeremy Rowand fifth in the Men’s Expert class.
Betsy Shogren of Morgantown, wife of the men’s winner and runner-up a year ago, was the champ this time in the Women’s Expert class with a time of 2:20.47.
Mandi Riddle of Elkins was second.
Winners were also determined in 15 other classes. The event was a point series race on the West Virginia Mountain Bike circuit.
A field of 49 riders competed in this year’s Tour, down from the 103 who competed last year. The race was delayed for an hour because of rain during the morning, which gave way to brilliant sunshine by race time.
Scott Gibson, Adam Reichard, Emilea Greathouse and Elijah Eastman were the winners in a Kids’ Day race Saturday evening.
Following is a complete list of participants in last weekend’s Aquafina Tour de Lake mountain bike race at Charles Fork Lake.
