Josh Jones tops Raider all-state baseball picks
First-teamer Josh Jones heads a list of four Roane County Raiders named to the 2010 Class AA all-state baseball team. Jones, previously named player of the year in the Little Kanawha Conference, was chosen as one of four utility players on the 16-member first team announced by the W.Va. Sports Writers Association.
As a senior at RCHS, Jones hit .448 with 32 RBIs. The lefty was 7-3 on the mound with a 2.39 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 64-1/3 innings pitched.
Jones has signed to play next season at W.Va. Wesleyan College.
Another Raider senior, Daniel Eisenberg, was tabbed for the second team as an infielder. Eisenberg batted at a .505 clip with seven doubles.
Two juniors also made the team, catcher Alex Mace with special honorable mention and outfielder Josh Wine with honorable mention.
Mace hit .360 with five home runs and 33 RBIs while Wine had a .358 batting average with seven doubles.
