JIM COOPER/SPENCER NEWSPAPERS
- Roane County went to the extreme in splitting a pair of games last week against visiting Wirt County and Ripley.

The Lady Raiders walloped Wirt 15-0 last Wednesday in four innings as Ashli Knotts tossed a one-hitter to claim her ninth victory against three losses. Morgan Cottrell, Allie Mills, Kate Williams and Megan Keaton each had two hits for Roane, which scored eight times in the third inning.

Ripley’s Allyson Southall was dominant Thursday in an 11-1 romp as she gave up no hits and struck out 11 in five innings before being relieved. Knotts gave up seven hits before she came out in the fifth and took the loss.

Carly Caldon and Jordan Casto combined for six hits and six RBIs for the Vikings, who also benefited from seven Roane errors.

Cheyenne Hall had a hit and scored the only run for the Lady Raiders, who fell to 11-4 after their first loss this season to a West Virginia team.

Ashli Knotts tossed her third no-hitter of the season Tuesday as Roane County improved to 14-4 by clobbering Calhoun County in an LKC South softball twinbill at the Lick Fork field.

Knotts fanned eight in five innings of the opener, which the Lady Raiders won 14-0. Paige Garrett, Michele Carpenter and Breanna Mathewson each knocked in a pair of runs for the winners.

Knotts (12-4) went two innings of the nightcap and got the decision in a 24-1 rout of the Red Devils. Roane, which scored half of its runs in the first inning of the four-inning contest, got four RBIs from Gwen Freeland and three from Morgan Cottrell. Mary Fluharty and Sammy Sloan both collected a trio of hits for the Lady Raiders.
