Class AA No. 8 Braxton County broke away in the second quarter and went on to rout Roane County 63-37 Friday in Spencer.
The Eagles (11-2) led only 15-13 after an inspired first quarter by the Raiders (4-9). A 21-8 run before halftime game Braxton a comfortable 36-31 advantage at the break.
Cord Metz sank five 3-pointers and led the Eagles with 23 points. Tre Chapman added 17 points for the winners.
Roane’s only double figure scorer was Derek Davis, who finished with 11 points.
Braxton also won the JV game 75-52 despite Jimmy Hensley’s 16-point effort for the Raiders.
The Raider freshmen picked up a 53-34 victory over the Eagles in the first game of a tripleheader, with Gabe Moore leading the way with 10 points.
