Host Clay County avenged an earlier defeat to the Raiders by winning 70-62 on Friday. Matt Carte scored 19 points for the Panthers in the LKC South contest and Brecken Gray and Sean Duffield added 15 apiece.

Roane got 17 points apiece from Derek Davis and Matt Abbott to go along with 15 by Matt Brohard.

Roane fell 64-35 in the junior varsity preliminary. Shane Starcher had nine points to top the Raiders, with Jimmy Hensley and Rhett Atkinson chipping in with eight each.

Last Wednesday at home, the Raiders fell to Herbert Hoover 76-55 despite 18 points and 14 boards from Davis.

Brian Shaffer led the Huskies with 20 points while Evan Shamblin added 17 and Travis Cunningham 14.

Hensley exploded for 28 points for the Raiders in the JV game, but it wasn’t enough as Roane lost to the Huskies, 69-57.

Gilmer County took control in the first half and coasted past Roane County 51-37 Tuesday in an LKC South game in Glenville.

The Titans (11-6) were ahead 31-15 at the break after a 16-5 run to close the half.

Roane (4-12) had only one player in double figures, Matt Abbott with 12. Derek Davis added nine for the Raiders.

Gilmer took the JV game 63-55. Rhett Atkinson had 19 points and Jimmy Hensley added 16 to lead the Raiders.
