A large crowd at the Raider gym watched as the two rivals battled down to the wire. After Drake hit the game-winner, Calhoun called a time out and got the ball to midcourt on the ensuing inbounds play. After another timeout, a desperation shot misfired and the Raiders (3-3) completed a season sweep of the Red Devils (0-6).
Roane got off to a fast start and built a 13-5 lead after one quarter. Calhoun came back to trail by only 22-20 at the half and forged a 34-all tie after the third quarter buzzer.
Matt Brohard connected on five 3-pointers for the Raiders and finished with 15 points to go along with five assists. Fellow guard Aaron Parsons added 13 more, including a trio of treys, and Drake finished with 10 points. Derek Davis had a team-high 10 rebounds for Roane.
Calhoun’s Andrew Norman sank three 3-pointers and took game scoring honors with 23. Justin Gerwig contributed eight points for the Red Devils.
Roane ripped Calhoun 62-21 in the JV game to improve to 3-1. Colter Taylor scored 23 points, Shane Starcher 11 and Rhett Atkinson and Jimmy Hensley 10 each for the winners.

Previously winless South Harrison took control with a 16-3 first-quarter burst and went on to rip Roane County 53-36 Saturday in an LKC South contest at Lost Creek.
The Hawks (1-6) were led by Davey Wriston’s 20 points, which included four 3-pointers. Trevor Bowers added 11.
The cold-shooting Raiders received 11 points and nine rebounds from Josh Drake. Roane made only eight field goals in the entire game, just two in the second half. A 17-for-27 showing from the charity stripe, including Matt Abbott’s 8-for-10 effort, kept the score respectable.
Roane fell to 3-4 overall and to 2-1 in the LKC South.
The Hawks were also victorious in the junior varsity preliminary. Jimmy Hensley tallied 14 points and Rhett Atkinson 11 for the Raiders (3-2) in the 50-46 defeat.
