Charleston Catholic overcame a halftime deficit and went on to defeat Roane County 46-42 Friday in the championship game of its own holiday tournament.
The Lady Raiders (4-2) led 19-15 at the break before the Fighting Irish went ahead with a 15-7 run in the third period.
Ashli Knotts scored 10 points, dished four assists and made seven steals to pace Roane. Jessica Roberts and Clarissa Pinson each added nine points, with Roberts snatching nine rebounds.
Maria Fernia topped the Irish with 18 points.
Pinson poured in 22 points to go along with 13 boards and two blocks in her team’s 64-40 opening round defeat of Mountain State Academy. Knotts and Kate Williams chipped in with 10 points each for the Lady Raiders, who pulled away with a 15-point advantage in the final period. Stephanie Cutlip added six assists while Williams was in on six steals and Sammy Sloan five.
Agreta Morkunita paced the Beckley-based Falcons with a game-high 30 points. Only three players scored for Mountain State.
Pinson and Knotts were Roane’s representatives on the all-tournament team.
