Roane fell to Wirt County in the championship game of the Doddridge County Freshman Basketball Holiday Tournament Saturday in West Union.
The Raider frosh beat host Doddridge County Friday 66-61 to advance to the title tilt and pick up their first win of the season after four losses.
R.J. Burdette led Roane with 19 points as the Raiders sank nine of 13 free throws to seal the win. Alex Mace scored 16 in the final period to finish the game with 18 points.
In the title tilt, Wirt jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the first quarter on the way to an 82-65 win.
Burdette had 26 and Adam Abbott 12 in that game.
