Roane County’s progressive spirit is highlighted in the pages of “Progress ’08,” a special section published this week in The Times Record and Roane County Reporter.
It takes vision and initiative to survive in the current economic climate, and many members of the Roane business community are proving that they are more than up to the task.
Whether it’s trying to start a hilltop artists’ colony or remodeling a century-old house as a bed and breakfast inn, local people have shown they are unafraid to follow their dreams.
Many originally from other areas have come here to pursue their dreams by opening businesses such as restaurants or antique shops.
Together, they contribute to a community that includes long-established businesses that continue to grow by investing in the local economy, as well as dedicated volunteers who unite in order to accomplish needed improvements.
The special section includes 48 pages devoted to such stories, as well as advertisements from progressive-mined businesses, organizations and political candidates.
You can find it all this week in “Progress ’08.”
