A Walton man State Police believe shot his ex-wife before turning the gun on himself died last week in a Charleston hospital.
Nolan Ray “Billy” Kuhn, 45, apparently shot his ex-wife and her dog on Sunday, Feb. 17 and then called 911 before turning the gun on himself, police said.
The incident occurred at Kuhn’s residence at 9526 Charleston Rd., a short distance south of Robinson Run.
His former wife, Candis Kuhn-Kane, 43, of Marmet, was pronounced dead at the scene. She and her ex-husband were both shot in the head by a .22 caliber rifle, according to State Police.
Kuhn was airlifted to CAMC General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery that day. A hospital spokesman said last Wednesday Kuhn remained in critical condition, although now authorities say he was dead two days earlier, on Monday, the day after the shooting.
A spokesman at Armstrong Funeral Home in Whitesville, Boone County, said this week that Kuhn died Monday, Feb. 18, at CAMC.
The funeral home spokesman said, at Kuhn’s request, the body was cremated and there were no services. He said the family requested that no other information be released.
The couple had been granted a divorce in December. Police said they had a history of domestic problems.
Had Kuhn survived, police said he could have been charged with murder.
